A WALES-WIDE appeal to raise funds to help the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo was launched on Thursday 20 November.
Launching the appeal at St Davids Hall in Cardiff, Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Cymru chairman Richard Laydon said that a massive scale-up in aid was required.
The start of the rainy season means that people living in already desperate conditions are becoming ever more vulnerable, said Laydon.
Our member agencies are already reaching several hundred thousand people, but the need is overwhelming and increasing. We have got to do more, and now, more than ever, we need the Welsh public to show their generosity.
DEC Cymru is: British Red Cross, CAFOD, Christian Aid, Help the Aged in Wales, Oxfam Cymru, Save the Children, Tearfund.
